To convert Parasolid to IGES, drop the .x_t or .x_b file into the converter below and download the .igs. The surfaces are translated exactly, with nothing turned into facets, and no account is needed for up to 2 solid conversions a day. Before you do, check whether the person asking would take STEP: it carries the same exact geometry and closes into a solid more reliably.
2 solid-geometry conversions a day with no account. No card, no install.

Parasolid and IGES both store B-rep geometry, so planes, cylinders, cones and NURBS survive and dimensions, radii and tangency are preserved exactly.
Both formats store exact geometry, so the shape survives: planes, cylinders, cones and NURBS faces arrive as the same surfaces, and no dimension moves.
What changes is the age and the habits of the format. IGES predates STEP by more than a decade and was built to exchange surfaces, not solids. Many systems read an IGES as a set of trimmed surfaces and leave it to the user to stitch them back into a closed body, which is where IGES earns its reputation for arriving with gaps. A Parasolid solid is closed when it goes in; whether the receiving software treats it as a solid when it comes out depends on that software.
Nothing beyond geometry travels: no feature history (the transmit file had none), and no colours or attributes. Choose IGES when a CAM programmer, toolmaker or older system asks for it by name; otherwise send STEP.
Parasolid is the modelling kernel under SOLIDWORKS, Solid Edge and NX, and a transmit file is its exact solid geometry. Between systems that share the kernel it often survives better than a neutral format. .x_t is text, .x_b is binary; both hold the same solid.
Someone in a Siemens or SOLIDWORKS shop sent you an .x_t and nothing you have opens it.
IGES predates STEP and is still requested by older CAM systems and mould and die workflows. It stores exact geometry, but many IGES files are loose trimmed surfaces that never close into a watertight solid. Unless someone asks for IGES by name, STEP is the better choice.
A CAM programmer, toolmaker or legacy system asked for IGES, or you were handed one and need something current.
Keep the part open: fill it with a lattice, check it with FEA, texture a surface, or slice it into cut-ready sheets. These workspaces are in early access — create an account, then apply from inside the app.
