Polygon File Format (Stanford triangle format) (.ply)

PLY came out of scanning research and carries per-vertex data — colour, normals, confidence — alongside position. It is the standard output of 3D scanning and photogrammetry, in ASCII or binary.

Questions4 answered
Is my PLY file uploaded?
No. A PLY file is read by your browser on your own machine and drawn in the page. Nothing is sent to our servers, so there is no limit on how many you view.
Is it free?
Yes, with no account and no daily limit, because viewing a mesh costs us nothing.
Can I measure the part?
The viewer shows its overall size along each axis, in the units stored in the file. For distances between features, convert it and open it in your CAD system.
What does the viewer not show?
Colours, textures and materials are not drawn, and every surface is shown as triangles. A mesh holds only triangles, so nothing is lost by showing it this way.
